A steeply appreciating air cooled collectible, this superior low-mileage (43,000 ORIGINAL kms/27,000 miles) specimen is now offered for sale.

INFORMATION
An icon of the automotive industry, the original Volkswagen Beetle is fast becoming a valuable collectible classic. This air cooled, rear engine, rear-wheel drive 1973 Super Beetle features the rounded windshield and padded dash, the first year it was offered.

An original 1585cc 46hp engine powers this showroom condition example with only 43,000 original kms on the odometer.

A rare example with the optional 2-speed semi-automatic clutchless transmission, it shifts smoothly and gives the car its slightly lower back end stance. Perfect for anyone unfamiliar with manual shift driving.

All original components without modification, you will be hard pressed to find another such example in this condition.

A true survivor in its purest form. It is an occasionally driven summer car with minimal mileage and is a solid, dependable and quickly appreciating classic Volkswagen Super Beetle. The engine runs strong and reliably.
HISTORY
I am the second owner of the vehicle, the original owner purchased it new from the dealership, but unfortunately they passed away and the car was stored in a garage collecting dust for many years. I came across this rare example of a Beetle as I had one as a teenager, and purchased it. It was towed out and over several months was brought back to life and on the road again.

It was re-painted in original “Texas Yellow” as the original paint had dulled over its 50years of existence. A complete and thorough overhaul of the fuel systems, brakes, and carburetor was conducted by well-known Volkswagen restoration specialist and mechanic Ron Cashman, along with proper Ontario certification to get it in top driving form where it has been enjoyed in Manotick, Ontario, Canada. Properly stored in winter, it is truly a sunny Sunday driver.

All interior vinyl is in exceptional, non-cracked/faded condition (there is a small hole in passenger seat cover) but the original horsehair cushioning has deteriorated and could use replacement.
CONDITION
All dashboard lights work as they should, however the radio does not function but is original.

The underside/chassis is near perfect condition with little to no corrosion. The vehicle is stored indoors and only sees sunshine in the summer months. This is time capsule that really should be in a showroom or museum.

VALUATION
According to the most recent Valuation by Hagerty Canada, this particular vehicle AN UNRESTORED ORIGINAL EXAMPLE today would be rated between Excellent and Concours, valued at $34,000-$45,000 (see valuation chart below). It was professionally appraised for $25,000 value in 2020 and continues to climb each year. Complete appraisal package available. This is an investment piece that would be a great addition to any car collection.

Ontario registration and safety certified in 2020 with professional appraisal from that time.
Viewings in Manotick starting Spring 2024. Can ship across North America at buyer expense.
Will consider a trade towards interesting convertibles…try your trade!
Serious buyers will not be disappointed. This is like buying a brand new Volkswagen Beetle. Buyer must arrange all shipping, pickup and registration. I look forward to giving this rare example of a Super Beetle a suitable and appreciative new home.
